Empresario Launching Night

I feel that art, in all its forms, are somewhat synonymous with one another. They are all mediums of self-expression and they are each born from inspiration based on the artist's loves, passions, and perceptions.  In fact, one artform can inspire the next.  So much so that I often find myself drawing ideas from the passion I see in others as they execute their works whether it be music, design, paintings and other types of visual art, etc.  That said, I am very blessed and honored to have my own works of art put on focus amongst those of extraordinary individuals.

8 days from now on Wednesday, July 27 at 1Esplanade (beside SM Mall of Asia) beginning at 6:00pm, Makeup by Monique Jaramillo-Señeres (MJS) will be featured in what I'd like to refer to as a hybrid trunkshow called Empresario.  It is a "trunkshow redefined", because of its unique lineup of Manila's up and coming entrepreneurs from different areas of art.  You can expect a fashion show and exhibits from clothing designer Dimple Lim, jewelry designer Reshma with Trosseau, Vice Ink Tattoo, photographer Arturo Alera, and more.

You should all definitely check out this one-of-a-kind event, not just to support me (well, yes for that reason of course hehe), but also to learn about and support the outstanding entrepreneurs and their businesses.  Aside from our exhibits, we will also be doing live demos (in my case, also makeup for the fashion show beforehand) and be giving out goodies/gift certificates/you name it.

Parade of Colors by Bjorn Manila

Summer is coming to a close. Long sigh. But that's no reason to feel as dark and dreary as the rainy season weather that is soon to settle in.  Precisely why these photos I'm about to share with you could not have come at a better time.  From a photoshoot late last month together with Bjorn Manila, Yeoh Models, stylist Gelo Arucan & fellow makeup artist Diana Santos; is a series titled Parade of Colors.

How's that for erasure of the blahs?

You'll notice that this set portrayed the beauty and grace of color in the background, the styling and most importantly, the diverse subjects.  That said, you may agree with me when I say that color seems to exuberate fun, adventure, and the loveliest aspects of life.

Yes, I highly appreciate neutrals on a normal basis, but stepping outside normalcy once in a while is only healthy.  There are times when we need to allow ourselves to loosen the strings on control and routine.  It is when we become too programmed (i.e. automatically having the summer-sun-gone-so-rain-clouds-engulf-me mentality) that we fall into monotony.  As my husband/rapper ILL-J said in a line from his track Feel Good: "Life is still good even in stormy weather, the rain is needed to wash the path of our future".

So if color can indeed lift a dark spell every now and then, why not parade it?
