10: Wheel Deal

Remember color wheels in elementary art class? First we had to learn about primary, secondary, and tertiary colors.  Then we had to learn about which colors were complimentary to one another or contrasting with one another.  It was all very precise and set in stone that certain colors did or did not go together.

When I attended makeup school, this whole color wheel resurfaced and all the more we had to be very particular about use of colors since a person's face depended on it.  From color correction to coordination and so on...this wheel served as a solid foundation for use of color.

Being accustomed to the standard color wheel (as seen on your right) and call me silly, but I was in awe when I came across this particular version.  Nevertheless, I felt the need to share this with all of you, because maybe you would enjoy the cheap thrill too.

Using the most loved shades of Summer 2011, is this color wheel using nail polish!  Cool, warm, in between; I think each is a lot of fun and though summer is quickly breezing by, there are still a handful of days (pun intended) left to dabble with these gorgeous hues.

Thanks to this visual, you can see for yourself which colors best suit your skin tone (warm up pale skin with oranges or yellows) or undertone (more brown undertones can probably pull off those cooler shades) or even which outfits you can rotate around the specific shade that you have on your nails (that's right, they don't need to be the same color as what you're wearing).

Now who doesn't appreciate OCD vanity?  So much better to see hues with.  For Summer 2011, this is the wheel deal.
